Sweden: Telia selects Nokia to deploy cloud-native 5G standalone core across five markets

Sweden, Finland, Norway, Lithuania and Estonia, 6 November 2025 – Telia Company has signed a contract with Nokia to deploy a cloud-native 5G standalone core for its operations in Sweden, Finland, Norway, Lithuania and Estonia. The agreement follows Telia’s recent renewal of its radio access network partnership with Ericsson but designates Nokia as the supplier of 5G SA core architecture across the group. Telia will also use Nokia’s radio access network portfolio to enhance 5G coverage, capacity and energy efficiency in Finland, which was not part of the renewed Ericsson agreement.

According to both companies, the 5G SA deployment will improve automation, scalability and reliability, enabling new services for consumer, enterprise and public-sector customers. Nokia noted that the cloud-native core supports advanced performance and low latency while contributing to Telia’s wider innovation and sustainability objectives.
