Success stories about digitisation, employability and inclusiveness – the role of Europe

Digitisation is not a choice but a necessity for European businesses and economies as a whole. It cannot be stopped but needs to be accompanied. Digitisation brings plenty of opportunities, but also repercussions, and above all change: some jobs will be replaced, new jobs will be created, and many jobs will be transformed.

Facts about what digitisation means to people

This concept paper and its factsheet capture some of the challenges and the benefits of the digitisation for employment and acknowledges that there is a need to accompany people through this transition. 

In May 2015, the European Commission presented a strategy to create a Digital Single Market where people and businesses can make the most of what digitisation offers. This includes concrete EU actions to support projects related to jobs, employability, training, and social issues, such as the below success stories:
