Study on industry agreements in current and future digital value chains

The European Commission is currently calling for tenders to carry out a technological and economic study of areas where industry agreements have a high potential to create markets and market opportunities, as it is the case for industrial platforms, reference architectures and interaction protocols.

The study (Reference: Smart 2018/0003) will contribute to the Digitising European Industry objective to reinforce the EU’s competitiveness in digital technologies. It starts from the observation that European industry needs to come to agreements on functions and interfaces for those platforms, reference architectures and interaction protocols that have the potential to create markets and market opportunities leading to ecosystems and standards.

The maximum amount allocated to the study is EUR 250.000. The call for tenders is open until 14 February 2019.

Objectives

  • Identify 7-10 areas where industry agreements have a high potential to create markets and market opportunities
  • Validate the need and viability of such agreements for 3-5 areas
  • Recommend further actions to be taken up by industry, the European Commission, and/or Member States.
