Commissioner for Internal Market Thierry Breton will visit Cannes on 18 May to meet start-ups and innovators in the audiovisual sector and present the European Media Industry Outlook, a new report exploring media trends and analysing their impact on the EU market and industry.
Commissioner Breton will also deliver the opening speech of the European Film Forum “Looking forward: a vision for the European audiovisual and media industries”. His intervention will be followed by discussions on the competitiveness of the European media sector and future business models with high-level industry representatives.
The festival will also present nine films supported by the MEDIA strand of the Creative Europe programme, four of which compete for Palme d’Or: ‘Club Zero’, Jessica Hausner, ‘La Chimera’, Alice Rohrwacher, ‘Kidnapped’, Marco Bellocchio and ‘Four Daughters’, Kaouther Ben Hania. The winners of this year’s festival will be announced at the closing ceremony on Saturday 27 May.
