The European Commission opened two calls for interest to recruit new members for the enforcement team of the Digital Services Act (DSA). Directorate F, responsible for the application of the DSA, is looking for at least 40 legal officers, data scientists or technology specialists, and policy and operations specialists, and 10 administrative, policy or legal assistants The deadline for application is 12.00 CET 2 February 2024.

The Digital Services Act is a ground-breaking regulation that aims to make the digital space safer. It puts obligations on all digital service providers to tackle issues such as illegal content and disinformation, while at the same time protecting freedom of speech and fundamental rights online. The DSA also has the protection of minors at its heart and lays down specific provisions to guarantee that the youngest citizens have a safe experience online.

Tougher rules apply to the biggest platforms and search engines which have more than 45 million monthly users in the EU. These internet giants are supervised and regulated directly by the European Commission, whereas Member States are responsible for the supervision of smaller platforms as of 17 February 2024.

The contract agents in function group IV and those in function group II and III that Directorate F (Platforms Policy and Enforcement) at DG CONNECT is hiring will support the Commission’s new supervisory and enforcement role related to the DSA.

The specialists will work in multi-disciplinary teams dealing with designated services and co-operating with regulatory authorities in the Member States. They will engage with stakeholders and gather knowledge and evidence to support the application of the DSA and to detect, investigate and analyse potential infringements of the DSA.

The assistants will help organise and implement the Commission’s regulatory task. DG CONNECT is looking for motivated administrative assistants with expertise in document management or secretariat, policy assistants specialised in process or operational support as well as legal assistants or paralegals who will carry out legal research and support legal drafting and revisions.

The initial duration of contract is one year, with the possibility to extend it up to 6 years in total.
