20 different success stories from more than 10 EU-supported projects exhibited this year at Hannover Messe, the world's leading trade fair for industrial technology. They showed how companies have digitised their businesses with the help of Digital Innovation Hubs and through the use of High Performance Computing (HPC), Internet of Things (IoT), photonics, robotics and other cutting-edge technologies.

The stand attracted a lot of attention, both at the fait and in the digital sphere. With the hashtag #HannoverMesseWow, participants were invited to take pictures of the projects at the European Commission stand and to promote them through their twitter accounts. More than 170 users took part in the contest, publishing more than 500 posts. You can check here the projects and users that triggered the highest engagement online.

Projects that triggered the most tweets

  • Fortissimo: The Lamborghini sports car was one of the highlights at the stand for many participants. The car is part of the experiment conducted in the Fortissimo project, where they combined High-Performance Computing (HPC) and could-based software to optimise automatically the shape of a particular mechanical system, such as that of the Lamborghini car.

Huge thank you from @FortissimoPro to @Lamborghini for loaning the Aventador S for the Hannover Fair. Beautiful car - beautiful technology. pic.twitter.com/WlffZlwmLT

  • BEinCPPPs: This project aims to integrate cyber-physical systems in a cloud service platform for machine factories.  At Hannover Messe, they showed the successful cases of two companies that have implemented these solutions: Pernoud in France and Kyaia in Portugal.

  • CPSE Labs: With the goal of integrating cyber-physical systems in the production systems, this project has developed a prototype in the IPP4CPPS experiment, where real-time information about machines, production process, product and perturbations is collected into a platform that allows coping with uncertainties for the automatic scheduling and control.
