Digital Justice Now - e-CODEX for cross border e-Justice

The e-CODEX project has been invited to hold a breakout session at “Digital Justice Now" organised by the Scottish Government on the 20 August 2014. The aim was to raise awareness of public administrations and legal communities on existing opportunities for cross border e-Justice initiatives.

Scottish Digital Justice stakeholders met in Edinburgh on 20 August 2014 to discuss developments in the field of Digital Justice. The aim of the breakout sessions held were to raise awareness of public administrations and legal communities on existing opportunities for cross border e-Justice initiatives among Member States,  Associated Countries and Regions.

Highlights of the event included the launch of the Scottish Justice Digital Strategy and current European views in implementing the Multiannual European e-Justice Action Plan for 2014 – 2018.

One session was dedicated to latest updates in piloting the first European Large Scale Pilot in the field of justice  - e-CODEX - and its approaches on Secure Online Data Exchange. The joint presentation introduced by Mr. Carsten SCHMIDT, Project Coordinator and Mr. Jean-Marc PELLET, Work Package Leader was focused on how judicial cooperation is influenced by e-CODEX secure data exchange and major benefits of the automated systems replacing traditional practices among judicial authorities. As these secure online exchanges represent an ongoing process, future achievements will be shared with interested parties as soon as possible.

Also, the Ministry of Justice from England and Wales, represented by Mrs. Christine LEWIS held a session to discuss priorities of the Multiannual European e-Justice action plan 2014 - 2018.
