For the first time, this initiative, led by the European Parliament and the European Film Academy, in partnership with the European Commission and Europa Cinemas, counted with its biggest ever jury, as it included a public vote.

Additionally, “Corpus Christi”, by Jan Komasa and “Druk - Another Round”, by Thomas Vinterberg, which received EU-support for development and distribution, were also nominated for this award. The latter also received the Oscar for Best International Feature Film in this year’s edition of the Academy Awards.

The EU supported the development and international distribution of these two titles with an investment of over EUR 1,68 million, awarded through the MEDIA strand of the Creative Europe programme. More information on these and other productions will be made available in the dedicated campaign run on the occasion of 30 years of MEDIA, to celebrate the EU's support to the audiovisual industry throughout the decades.
