
The observatory should identify and build on existing initiatives and organise discussions and workshops around topics where acting at EU level would be required or would have an impact in an open, constructive and reactive way. The renewed and widened EU Blockchain Observatory and Forum should monitor and analyse developments, clarify existing and emerging issues; build a top-notch knowledge environment; strengthen synergies with existing and upcoming initiatives; become a EU training hub on blockchain and DLT.

After a competitive process following a call for tenders announced in October 2019, the European Commission has selected a consortium consisting of INTRASOFT, the University of Nicosia, the Centre for Research and Technology Hellas (CERTH), and subcontractors (including Bitfury Group, OpenForum Europe AISBL, White Research, PLANET S.A.) as the new partner to operate the EU Blockchain Observatory and Forum, taking over the role from the consortium led by ConsenSys A.G.
