AIOTI Board decides on next steps and actions

The Alliance of Internet of Things Innovation (AIOTI) Board approves the guidelines on the operational functioning of the Alliance and welcomes its new members.

The AIOTI Board members organised on 22 May 2015 a meeting to discuss and decide the guidelines on the operational functioning of the Alliance. In addition, the chairs of the eleven working groups had the opportunity to present and validate their detailed actions plans to be implemented until the end of the year. Synergies with other relevant fora/organisations operating in the field of Internet of Things were highlighted as being of strategic importance for the alliance. This action will be followed further by the Board members, with WG2 in the lead.

An item on the hundreds of new applicants to join the Alliance was also in the agenda. The Board members validated the entry of new members. The European commission presented to the Board the newly created online AIOTI membership application. The online application will facilitate the acceptance of more new members. The Alliance is still open to eligible new members to join.

Finally, the Board decided on next steps and meetings. Meetings of various AIOTI working groups and of the Board are going to be organised during the IoT Week in Lisbon. The next Board meeting is scheduled on June 16th 2015.

Today's meeting follows up on the first Board meeting which took place at the premises of DG CONNECT in Brussels on 23 April 2015. During this meeting the Director-General of DG CONNECT, Mr Robert Madelin, highlighted once again the importance of this Alliance for the Internet of Things in Europe. All the Board members during the first Board meeting have decided to regularly meet in order to work on well establishing the Alliance and refine its vision.
