If you are going to attend the Mobile World Congress 2016 (MWC2016) don't miss the opening of the European Commission pavilion (Congress Square CS74) on Monday February 22nd at 09:30. The first ever electronic music reinterpretation of the European Union anthem by DJ UNER will be presented there.

DJ UNER kindly accepted the invitation of the European Commission and will play free of charge a live electronic music reinterpretation of his own of the European Union anthem, representing this genre in the world's largest technology event

The anthem of the European Union is one of the official symbols of the European Union. The anthem originates from Ode to Joy (An die Freude in German), written by Friedrich von Schilleren in 1785 and composed by Ludwig van Beethoven for his Ninth Symphony. In 1971 the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe decided to propose adopting the prelude to the 'Ode To Joy' as the European anthem, taking up a suggestion made in 1955 by Richard Nikolaus von Coudenhove-Kalergi. In 1985, it was adopted by the EU heads of State and governments as the official anthem of the European Union. It is the first time in history that this anthem will be reinterpreted with electronic music.

The opening video of the European Commission Pavilion at MWC2016 will close this very short ceremony. The opening of the European Commission Pavilion will be done by Vice-President of the European Commission, Mr Andrus Ansip and Commissioner for Digital Economy and Society, Mr Günther Oettinger. Members of the European Parliament and Mr Roberto Viola, Director-General of DG CONNECT will also attend the event.

After the end of MWC2016, you will be able to watch DJ UNER's show and listen again to his version of the European Union anthem on Digital Agenda YouTube channel.
