Five EU supported films get nine nominations for 2024 Academy Awards

The 96th edition of the annual Academy Awards includes five films supported through the Creative Europe MEDIA programme, nominated in nine categories.

Anatomy of a Fall by Justine Triet scooped up five nominations, including for Best Director and Best Actress in a Leading Role (Sandra Hüller). Robot Dreams by Pablo BergerIbon Cormenzana, Ignasi Estapé and Sandra Tapia Díaz is nominated in the Animated Feature Film category, while Four Daughters by Kaouther Ben Hania and Nadim Cheikhrouha has a chance of winning the Documentary Feature Film award. Additionally, Io Capitano (Matteo Garrone, Italy) and The Teachers’ Lounge (Ilker Çatak, Germany) were both nominated for International Feature Film of the year. 

The MEDIA strand of the Creative Europe programme supports the European film and audiovisual industries to develop, distribute and promote European works, taking into account today’s digital environment. Through the programme, the EU has invested over €2.5 million for the development and distribution of these five nominated films.

The awards ceremony will be held on Sunday 10 March.
