‘All We Imagine As Light’ by Payal Kapadia – a collaboration between India, France, the Netherlands, Luxembourg and Italy – won the Grand Prix and the Special Mention of AFCAE (Association Française des Cinémas d'Art et d'Essai), while Miguel Gomes took home the award for Best Director for his film ‘Grand Tour’, a partnership involving Portugal, Italy and France.
Moreover, the Norwegian production ‘Armand’ by Halfdan Ullmann Tøndel won the Camera d'Or, while the Taiwan, Singapore, and France collaboration ‘Mongrel’, by Wei Liang Chiang and You Qiao Yin, received the Special Mention of Caméra d’Or. Additionally, ‘Bad for a moment’ by Daniel Soares (Portugal), took home the Short Film Special Distinction.
The EU supported these works through the Creative Europe MEDIA programme. In total, 16 films supported by the EU with over €800.000 for development and co-production, were nominated at this year’s Cannes Film Festival.
