Organised as a targeted consultation, the event brought together a select group of stakeholders from across the European AI ecosystem, including cutting-edge chip designers, cloud infrastructure providers, and AI model developers, and will help pave the way for broader stakeholder engagement.
The workshop aimed to launch a structured discussion at the intersection of these complementary technical communities on how to strengthen Europe’s position in the rapidly evolving AI compute landscape, where the growing complexity of AI models demands more integrated and sovereign infrastructure.
A key objective is to advance Europe’s strategic autonomy by reducing external dependencies across the compute stack, from advanced chips to full AI system integration, through co-designed, scalable solutions.
Discussions focused on ongoing developments in AI hardware, systems and models, emerging technological roadmaps, and anticipated compute needs. Participants also shared insights, identified challenges, and explored opportunities for collaboration, offering input that could help inform future EU initiatives.
The event marked an important step towards aligning Europe’s strategic efforts to build competitive, resilient, and sovereign AI capabilities.
