The European Digital Identity Cooperation Group supports the implementation of the EU digital Identity Regulation, advises the Commission, and contributes for improving the common toolbox for EU digital wallets.
Objectives & Tasks
The European Digital Identity Cooperation Group is an advisory group that has been established by Commission Decision C(2024)6132, following the provisions of the European Digital Identity (EUDI) Regulation.
The European Digital Identity Cooperation Group (the Cooperation Group) is established with the aim of supporting and facilitating cross-border cooperation and exchange of information between Member States on trust services, European Digital Identity Wallets and notified electronic identification schemes.
To achieve these objectives, the Cooperation Group has the following tasks:

exchanging best practices and cooperating with the Commission on emerging policy initiatives in the field of digital identity wallets, electronic identification means and trust services

advising the Commission in the preparation of draft implementing and delegated acts

supporting supervisory bodies in the implementation of the EUDI Regulation

organising peer reviews of electronic identification schemes

engaging with the Commission and other relevant stakeholders to develop a common Union Toolbox
Membership & Chair
The Cooperation Group is composed by representatives from Member States responsible for European Digital Identity Wallets, notified electronic identification schemes, and trust services, along with representatives from the Commission.
The Commission’s Directorate-General for Communications Networks, Content and Technology (DG CONNECT) chairs the cooperation group. Thus, it convenes the meetings, prepares the agenda, and provides secretariat support for the activities of the Cooperation Group.
