AgeingFit is the first European business event dedicated to innovation in Silver Economy and Health, which took place for the fourth time on 28-29 January 2020 in Nice, France. The event, which gathered over 600 international attendees from more than 20 countries, was dedicated to innovation partnerships in the healthy ageing sector, gathering all actors in the innovation cycle from research to market, along with the key players in regulation and evaluation with the objective to identify tomorrow’s market needs and promote today’s innovative products and services for the Senior Market. During the AgeingFit conference, the EU-funded i-Prognosis project was chosen as the most innovative project by a prestigious multidisciplinary panel of experts.

i-PROGNOSIS

The cardinal objective of i-PROGNOSIS is the development of (i) an ICT-based behavioral analysis approach for capturing, as early as possible, the PD symptoms appearance, and (ii) the application of ICT-based interventions countering identified risks. To achieve this, awareness initiatives are employed, resulting in i-PROGNOSIS community, targeting > 2200 older individuals, in order to unobtrusively sense large scale behavioral data from its members, acquired from their natural use of mobile devices (smartphone/smartwatch). Ensuring anonymization and secure Cloud archiving, i-PROGNOSIS developed and employed advanced big data analytics and AI-based techniques, in a distributed and privacy aware fashion, instantiating a PD Behavioral Model and constructing reliable early PD symptoms detection alarms. To those identified and clinically validated as early stage PD patients, ICT-based interventions are provided via the i-PROGNOSIS Intervention Platform, including: a) a Personalized Game Suite (ExerGames, DietaryGames, EmoGames, Handwriting/VoiceGames) for physical/emotional support, b) targeted nocturnal intervention to increase relaxation/sleep quality and c) assistive interventions for voice enhancement and gait rhythm guidance. In this way, i- PROGNOSIS constructively uses the AI in order to contribute to active and healthy ageing. Currently, the i-PROGNOSIS community is established with > 2200 active members from Europe, Australia, South America and Middle East, providing so far more than 130Gb of behavioral data, resulting from AI-based analysis in a diagnostic accuracy >83%.

Entering the Silver Economy Market

i-PROGNOSIS enters the “Silver Market” at a global level, as it tackles a global problem of older adults worldwide, such as AI-based early PD detection and proposes innovative ICT-based interventions, showing potential of frontline innovation and leadership, catering to a growing domestic and global market for active and healthy ageing. Moreover, i-PROGNOSIS contributes to the global perspective of the need for major shift, i.e., from institutionalized to home care, from late diagnosis to early detection and to living actively with multiple conditions, by delivering global ICT-based scalable solutions that meet tomorrow's needs for early PD detection, early PD intervention and wellbeing. Furthermore, by involving an expert network of excellence from all relevant stakeholders, i-PROGNOSIS supports all links of the complex value chain entailed from “concept to market reality” in active and healthy ageing solutions, showing a clear dynamic to meet the specific needs in the global race for innovation in active ageing.
