United States, 19 December 2025 – US President Donald J. Trump has signed a Presidential Memorandum setting out measures to accelerate American leadership in 6G network development, with a strong emphasis on spectrum availability. The directive orders immediate planning to clear the 7.125–7.4 GHz band for full-power commercial 6G use, giving federal incumbents 12 months to submit relocation plans that safeguard national security missions.
The memorandum also launches studies of the 2.69–2.9 GHz and 4.4–4.94 GHz bands to identify further opportunities for 6G services, and tasks the administration with advancing United States leadership through international and diplomatic engagement.
By providing early certainty on future spectrum bands, the White House aims to support United States and allied industry planning, positioning sixth generation networks as a foundation for next-generation technologies such as artificial intelligence, robotics and ultra-low-latency applications, while reinforcing the country’s global competitiveness in advanced digital infrastructure.
