€7.5 million of funding for projects improving cross border exchange of patient data

The 2015 CEF Telecom eHealth call (2015 CEF-TC 2015-2) makes an indicative €7.5 million of funding available for projects improving cross border exchange of patient data using ICT tools.

What is CEF?

The Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) is a key EU funding instrument to promote growth, jobs and competitiveness through targeted infrastructure investments at European level. It supports the development of high performing, sustainable and efficiently interconnected trans-European networks in the fields of transport, energy and digital services. CEF investments fill the missing links in Europe's energy, transport and digital backbone.

The CEF programme budget is in total €30.4 billion: €24.05 billion for Transport, €5.35 billion for Energy, and €1.04 billion for Telecom - the eHealth call falls under Telecom.

Responding to the eHealth call of the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) Telecom programme, EU member states have requested over €13 million in EU funding. They are planning to use the money to set up a cross-border network to exchange Patient Summaries and ePrescriptions.
