FANCI: Redefining how the driver and vehicle interact

  • PROJECTS STORY
  • Publication 10 septembre 2015

Imagine controlling a computer – or even a car – with just a twinkle of the eye or having it react to your mood. That’s what the project FANCI (Face and Body Analysis Natural Computer Interaction) is exploring and eventually be demonstrating in an automotive application.

FANCI is centered on developing better interaction between human senses and natural computer interfaces. It redefines how a driver and a vehicle interact and saves significant cost and power for the implementation of these functions.

User studies will be carried out with drivers where authentication/user profiling, interaction with the car’s infotainment display, selecting music depending on the driver’s mood, dimming infotainment display, live eye tracking and live mood detection will be tested.

The FANCI consortium is developing a universal reference platform, to fit a variety of applications. This will be validated through an automotive application, applying face localization and biometrics, gaze, mood and gesture detection as well as recognition algorithms.

This project will combine multi-modal sensor data in a hardware platform, which senses the emotional actions of the user through powerful software architecture.

FANCI will exhibit at ICT 2015 and it will welcome its visitors in the Innovate area.
