
Over 1500 participants will help to define a shared vision on how innovation can transform demographic change into an opportunity for Europe's ageing society and the Silver Economy.
The top things not to miss at the Ageing Summit of 2016 are:
1. Reference Sites Awards
Come and meet high-level representatives from the 74 European Regions who will be there for a prize-giving ceremony in the presence of Commissioner Oettinger. The reference site regions are committing to invest 4 billion euros in digital innovation for active and healthy ageing.

2. Unveiling the Blueprint containing a shared vision on Digital Transformation of Health and Care in Europe
High-level politicians and representatives of health and care organisations (industry, professional organisations, public authorities and civil society) will present their view on the future of health and care and how digital can help deliver better healthcare, sustainable healthcare systems and economic growth opportunities. They will officially hand over the final draft of the Blueprint to Commissioner Oettinger on 7 December.

3. Session on smart investments
An expert panel will discuss how to develop smart investment strategies to support digital innovation for active and healthy ageing: What type of public and private investment sources are available out there, and how can we build synergies with our health and care innovation agenda?

4. Sessions on the future of public private partnership models and of the European Innovation Partnership on Active and Healthy Ageing
Can we define a future model of public and private partnerships at EU level that can deliver large-scale implementation of digital innovation for health and care in Europe?
- 7 December, 9:30-10:30, Gold Hall: Towards a new model of Public Private Partnerships for innovation in health and care. Panel: Robert Madelin (author of the report 'Opportunity now: Europe's mission to innovate'), Christian Reinaudo (President AGFA), and Christian Stammel (CEO Wearable Technologies AG).
- 7 December, 18:30-19:00, Copper Hall, Closing Session: The future of the European Innovation Partnerships and how they can deliver systemic change beyond 2020. Keynote speakers: Esko Aho (Chair of the Independent Expert Group on European Innovation Partnerships) and Sir Graham Watson (President of EuropeActive).
5. The exhibition
The exhibition will feature successful EU-funded research and innovation, such as:

PATHway: a novel approach to cardiac rehabilitation. The PATHway experts have developed an individualized programme including an internet- enabled, sensor-based home exercise platform that manages exercise or other physical activity, smoking, diet, stress management, alcohol use etc. The system will allow remote participation in specially designed exercise programs at any time, either individual or together with a small number of patients, from the comfort of their own living room.

Researchers of the EU-funded DOREMI project have been studying early warning signs of malnutrition as well as physical and cognitive deterioration and are looking at solutions to improve older people’s quality of life across Europe.

The SILVER project has mobilised public procurement of innovation across the EU to create a robotic mobile personal assistant designed to help elderly citizens live independently at home. You can come and try it out!

INCA: How can innovative cloud-based tools for integrated care help healthcare providers solve some of the most pressing problems of an ageing population? This is of interest to all those with a stake in chronic disease prevention, from healthcare professionals to policymakers alike.
6. Preview of the 2016 Active Ageing Index
On Wednesday 7/12 at 17:00h (Innovation Arena Exhibition Hall), you will be able to get an exclusive preview of the Active Ageing Index (AAI) for 2016. This index measures the contributions made by older men and women to our economy and society. It scores countries, regions and local areas on employment, social participation, health, independent living and more. Have active ageing outcomes improved over the last six years? Is active ageing equally possible for men and women? Come to learn the answers to these and many more questions and discuss the latest AAI results for the EU region.
