5G Workshop between Regional initiatives during ICT2015 conference

The workshop is organized with leading 5G industrial initiatives and their supporting public authorities, to address the potential of further collaboration on the key issues of 5G standards and spectrum, in view of making the various cooperation Joint Declarations and MoU's operational.

The objective of this 5G workshop is to identify opportunities for cooperation and structured exchanges on the key issues of 5G standards and spectrum among the leading 5G industrial initiatives and their supporting public authorities. In particular issues to be covered during the workshop:

  • Standardisation / Spectrum main roadmaps and main milestones;
  • Standardisation, main bodies to target and time frame;
  • Opportunities for synchronisation and exchanges among the 5G initiatives, including notably opportunities offered by running R&D actions, e.g. 5G PPP projects in Europe;
  • How to optimize output of 5G initiatives towards standardization/spectrum fora;
  • Industrial technological orientations and possible regional deviations/priorities;
  • Key issues to address over the next two years;
  • Potential for global harmonisation of standards and spectrum;
  • Accounting for new actors, (e.g. vertical industries) in standardisation debates.

The Issue Papers on Standards and Spectrum, which have been elaborated in the context of 5G-PPP Working Groups "Pre-standardisation" and "Spectrum" respectively, will be used as an input for the discussion during the workshop.

Only invited persons actively involved in the public and industrial implementation of the selected 5G initiatives complemented with relevant participants from the 5G standards/spectrum domains can join the workshop.
