A Digital Europe needs Digital Skills: best practices from around the EU

There are so many ways in which we can foster digital skills among EU citizens. It is important that we share information on the many good practices across Europe, to see what is working well in one country and replicate it in others, adapting to the specific local needs and demands. The European Commission, with the contribution of the Digital Champions, has identified some great projects that could be an inspiration for other similar initiatives, that could also be supported by the European Social Fund.

The European Commission has launched a study to highlight areas where further work will be necessary in the short term to fill DSM gaps and to identify future Commission actions that would bring the highest impact in economic and social terms. The study will feed into the analysis of the economic, technological and social dimensions of disrupting digital developments, and the identification of strategies to manage this transformation and maximise its benefits for Europe.

All the European Union Member States and EFTA countries signed the 'eGovernement Declaration' in Tallin on 6 October 2017. The declaration was signed during the Ministerial Meeting which took place in the framework of the eGovernement Ministerial Conference. This was chaired by Minister Urve Palo, representing the Estonian Presidency of the Council of the EU and in the presence of Andrus Ansip, European Commission Vice-President for the Digital Single Market.
