Germany’s 5G rollout continues to advance, with near-universal coverage and growing focus on 5G standalone networks.

Germany: 5G coverage reaches 95% of national territory

Germany, 15 December 2025 – Around 95% of Germany’s land area was covered by 5G as of October 2025, according to figures published by the Federal Network Agency (Bundesnetzagentur), up from 93% one year earlier. Deutsche Telekom provided the widest 5G coverage, reaching approximately 87% of the territory, while Vodafone and Telefónica each covered around 75–76%.

Beyond 5G, overall mobile broadband availability remains very high, with 98% of the country having access to either fourth generation or 5G mobile networks. This reflects the continued maturity of Germany’s mobile infrastructure and sustained investment by network operators.

The rollout is increasingly shifting towards 5G standalone networks, which are expected to deliver higher speeds, lower latency and improved coverage. This transition is seen as an important step in supporting advanced consumer services and future industrial use cases enabled by 5G.
