India: National Frequency Allocation Plan 2025 released to align spectrum policy with 5G, 6G and satellite roadmaps

India, 30 December 2025 – India’s Department of Telecommunications has published the National Frequency Allocation Plan 2025, which entered into force on 30 December 2025, setting the framework for spectrum use from 8.3 kilohertz to 3 000 gigahertz and aligning national policy with international standards.

A key update is the identification of the 6 425–7 125 megahertz band for international mobile telecommunications, strengthening spectrum availability for 5G, 5G advanced and future 6G networks. The plan also allocates Ka, Q and V bands for next-generation satellite broadband, expands spectrum for in-flight and maritime connectivity, and supports emerging technologies such as vehicle-to-everything communications.
