During the meeting, participants shared their views about the perceived threats to electoral procedures, their assessments, and readiness. The discussions also revolved around cooperation with authorities, experts, civil society organizations and the data access mechanisms that the designated platforms provide. In particular, the roundtable participants concluded that there has been no widespread distribution of deepfakes of Generative AI content measured so far.
The roundtable is part of a series of comprehensive measures of the Commission to ensure the safety and fairness of both the European Parliamentary elections and forthcoming elections in the EU beyond.
