EU supported film awarded with the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival

At the 75th edition of the Cannes Film Festival, which concluded on Saturday 28 May, the EU-supported film “Triangle of Sadness”, by Ruben Östlund, was the big winner of the night: it has received the prestigious Palme d'Or as well as the CST Technical Award for best Artiste-Technician.

Additionally, "Boy from Heaven", by Tarik Saleh, which also received EU support for its development, won the award for Best Screenplay. “Love According to Dalva”, by Emmanuelle Nicot, was awarded at La Semaine de la Critique competition.

In total, 15 titles supported by the MEDIA strand of the Creative Europe programme had been selected in this year's edition of the festival, of which 6 were shortlisted in the official competition and ‘Un certain regard'. These films have been supported in their development and distribution.

Commissioner for Internal Market Thierry Breton participated in this year’s edition of the Cannes Film Festival during the European Film Forum (EFF) held on 20 May, to meet the industry and present MediaInvest, the new financing tool to boost Europe's audiovisual industry.
