During the Open Innovation 2.0 Conference in Amsterdam last May we discussed that regions are one of the key players in creating favourable conditions and orchestrating the Quadruple Helix thinking, which is essential for innovation in Europe. This means interaction between universities, civil society, local and international businesses as well as citizens. The essence of the ecosystem thinking is, in fact, in modernising the Triple Helix model of government, academia and industry to include and engage the citizens in everything we do.
The conference concluded in releasing the Amsterdam Open Innovation 2.0 Recommendations which in 10 points describe what the conference speakers and participants agreed on after two days of insightful discussions. The Amsterdam OI2 Recommendations build upon the Dublin Innovation Declaration adopted after the first edition of the Open Innovation 2.0 Conference 2013 in Dublin, Ireland.
