The Odessa film festival is the most important audiovisual festival in Ukraine and its neighbourhood. 800 participants from the industry attend the event, in addition to a large audience.
Through the Eastern Partnership Platform 4 Study Facility, the EU has conducted a statistical mapping of the film industries in the Eastern Partnership (EaP) countries. It led to a study, which includes an analysis of strengths and weaknesses of the industries in the different countries and common challenges. The study is a basis for shaping the strategy of developing the sector, both from a national and EaP perspective, and can be a guide for future funding from EU instruments. The study can be found here.
The Creative Europe MEDIA programme is open to the countries of the Eastern Partnership: Ukraine, Belarus, Moldova, Georgia, Azerbaijan and Armenia. To this date Moldova, Georgia and the Ukraine have joined. The participation is partial, opening the schemes for festivals, training, markets and audience development. Full participation will be possible when these countries have aligned with the AVMS Directive of the EU.
