If you happen to be in Cannes attending the film festival then you should not miss the conference organised by the European Commission in the frame of the European Film Forum, on Monday May 18th at Salon des Ambassadeurs - 14:30 to 17:30 .
Commissioner Günther H. Oettinger will welcome the panels and open the discussion on how to reach a wider audience in Europe and worldwide.
Session 1 - European creations without borders will analyse the impact of digital technologies on how films are promoted and distributed to the public, and how to ensure European films reach as wide an audience as possible within the EU.
Session 2 - Reaching out to new audiences worldwide will focus on export of European films outside the EU. It will analyse the situation in the USA, still the most important market for European films, and in China, a relatively new and not yet fully explored market. Fresh figures will be presented by the European Audiovisual Observatory. What do these figures tell us about what the priorities should be now to reach out to new audiences worldwide? And what can the European film industry learn from the others about how best to address this issue?
Save the date and stay tuned, the detailed programme will be released soon!
Please note that accreditation to the Film festival is required for access to the event.
