From 18 countries across four continents, MAGIC is an EU-funded cooperation project aiming to improve the ability of researchers around the world to collaborate and develop a global marketplace of services and real-time applications.

Coordinated by their partners RedClara, the Latin American academic networking organisation, the MAGIC project offers the exchange of information, ideas, services and resources to various disciplines of scientific communities over the globe.

With the help of the MAGIC project, many specialised service providers, National Research and Education Networks (NRENs), dedicated to supporting their country’s academic communities, have now expanded their horizons by interconnecting with other networks and using the federated identity service eduGAIN. This simplifies secure access to content, services and resources shared globally for researchers, students and academics.

Other services that can enable collaboration in this area include eduroam, quick and safe internet access when visiting an institution, and Collaboratorio, a platform that enables research teams to communicate online via a rising number of apps and services.
