CADDY develops underwater robots reading sign language

Using image processing technology, CADDY's underwater robot Artu is able to understand sign language freeing the divers from cumbersome cables and remotes.

The Swedish tech magazine NyTeknik writes about EU-funded project CADDY, which has developed a robotics system for underwater robots enabling them to manoeuvre without cables or remotes. Researchers have added an image processing system able to analyse pictures in 3D, so the underwater robot can respond to commands given by divers through sign language.
