Article 18 of Regulation (EU) 2024/1083 (European Media Freedom Act) introduced a set of safeguards related to the moderation of media service providers’ content by providers of very large online platforms, when such moderation is based on the relevant terms and conditions. The safeguards apply to those media service providers that fulfil a number of conditions that they need to declare. To this end, Article 18(1) of EMFA requires providers of very large online platforms to put in place a functionality allowing the recipients of their services to provide such declaration.
