The tool, currently in its beta version, outlines the main EU-related support opportunities for the audiovisual and news media sectors, as of 2021. It covers funding streams beyond Creative Europe, such as Horizon EuropeDigital EuropeInvestEU or the funding mechanisms included in the recovery package branded Next Generation EU. It will help media companies identify and apply for the most appropriate source of EU support among the programmes and instruments available to them.

This beta version covers the information which is currently available on the various relevant EU funding programmes. As the legal basis and the annual work programmes for the different programmes are currently being finalised, more information will be included in the next iterations of this tool.

The final version of the tool will be launched soon after the adoption of the programmes under the 2021-2027 Multiannual Financial Framework. It will include information on the upcoming calls for funding available for audiovisual and news media companies, as well as on the opportunities for assistance in the application process.

This tool is the first deliverable of the Media and Audiovisual Action Plan, a roadmap to support the recovery and transformation of the media and audiovisual sector. The Action Plan represents the commitment of the European Commission to support the industry throughout the current crisis and beyond, while ensuring that new means of support are fully exploited and mobilised.

Stakeholders are invited to share their feedback on the beta version of the tool by sending their contributions to CNECT-I3@ec.europa.eu by 28 May 2021.
