Speakers and participants from press, TV, radio, magazine, and online media will discuss innovations in the news media sector, and reflect on the European Media Freedom Act. Vice-President for Values and Transparency Věra Jourová, who will open the event, said:
Russia's war against Ukraine is yet another stark reminder of the crucial role of independent news media to inform us. This is why we need to support them. This calls for the swift adoption of the Media Freedom Act to protect editorial independence. This also calls for solutions to improve the economic situation of the media. The Forum will help make progress on these key issues.
After a first edition about the safety of journalists and a second on industrial transformation, this edition of the European News Media Forum will address collaborations between media, successful business models, journalistic standards, data spaces or future consumption of news.
