Europeana 2021

The Europeana 2021 conference takes off with an opening speech by Commissioner Breton on the 10 November 2021. There will be three days featuring interesting keynote speakers, interactive and engaging discussions, empowering the digital transformation of our cultural heritage and enhancing your skills set.

The conference takes place 10-12 November 2021 bringing together cultural heritage professionals. Participation is free of charge, but you need to register in order to get the correct links, as the conference takes place online. The programme includes a welcome speech by Commissioner Breton and by Harry Verwayen, General Director of Europeana Foundation. On the first day, the keynote speakers includes Yvo Volman, Director of Data, DG Connect, Sneska Quaedvilieg-Mihailovic, Secretary General of Europa Nostra, George Oates, CEO and founder of Museum in a Box and Pier Luigi Sacco, Professor of Cultural Economics IULM University Milan.

Europeana is an initiative of the European Union to support cultural heritage institutions in their digital transformation. The work of digitising our cultural heritage and bringing it online has been ongoing since its launch in 2008 and now gives access to millions of artworks, music, and much more. Almost  4000 institutions have contributed to the work of digitising Europe’s artefacts. The Europeana platform  is a fantastic source for creativity and education with many online collections, exhibitions, stories and resources for parents and teachers seeking more innovative ways of learning in Europeana Classroom.
