  • Publikation 24 marec 2015

Purpose of this call for tenders

In the March 2014 Trusted Cloud Europe report , the European Cloud Partnership's Steering Board noted that "Member States' practices and in some instances national laws restrict the possibility of storage and processing of certain data (especially public sector data) outside their territory"

Amongst other things, the ECP recommended to review data categorisation from Member State perspective, in order to identify required assurances from a legal and technological perspective, highlighting the need to get a better understanding of data location restrictions in relation to different types of data that relates to different sectors of the economy. The ECP also stated that "it is often possible and advisable to replace formal legal requirements (such as geographic location of the data) by the corresponding functional requirements (such as ensuring the accessibility and security of the data)."
