Izdodot pamatnostādnes par MI sistēmas definīciju, Komisijas mērķis ir palīdzēt sagādātājiem un citām attiecīgajām personām noteikt, vai programmatūras sistēma ir MI sistēma, lai veicinātu noteikumu efektīvu piemērošanu.
Pamatnostādnes par MI sistēmas definīciju nav saistošas. Tie ir izstrādāti tā, lai laika gaitā attīstītos, un vajadzības gadījumā tiks atjaunināti, jo īpaši ņemot vērā praktisko pieredzi, jaunus jautājumus un radušos lietošanas gadījumus.
Komisija ir publicējusi šīs pamatnostādnes papildus Pamatnostādnēm par aizliegtu mākslīgā intelekta (MI) praksi, kā noteikts MI aktā.
MI akts, kura mērķis ir veicināt inovāciju, vienlaikus nodrošinot augstu veselības, drošības un pamattiesību aizsardzības līmeni, klasificē MI sistēmas dažādās riska kategorijās, tostarp aizliegtas, augsta riska un tādas, uz kurām attiecas pārredzamības pienākumi.
No svētdienas, 2. februāra, ir sākuši piemērot pirmos noteikumus saskaņā ar Mākslīgā intelekta aktu (MI akts). Tie ietver MI sistēmas definīciju, MI pratību un ļoti ierobežotu skaitu aizliegtu MI izmantošanas gadījumu, kas rada nepieņemamus riskus ES, kā izklāstīts MI aktā.
