The eArchiving Glossary gives an overview about the main terms used in the context of the eArchiving initiative including the specifications and tools.

Term Acronym Definition
Content Information Type Specification CITS The Content Information Type Specification (CITS) defines rules and recommendations of electronic archiving for specific types of content, such as geospatial, database, or health data.

Common Specification for Information Packages CSIP The Common Specification for Information Packages (CSIP) which defines the general format requirements that must be met. See more information about the specification on the DILCIS board website.
DILCIS Board DILCIS DILCIS means "Digital Information LifeCycle Interoperability Standards Board". The DILCIS Board is responsible for developing, publishing and supporting E-ARK standards which provide practical interoperability in digital archiving.

DLM Forum DLM The DLM Forum (DLM) is a community of public archives and interested parties from across government, commercial, academic and voluntary sectors who are active in information governance, including archives, records, document and information lifecycle management..

E-ARK Specifications - The E-ARK specifications express the rules which need to be followed to produce and maintain interoperable information packages. You can find information about the E-ARK Specifications on the DILCIS Board website website.
Knowledge Centre KC The eArchiving Knowledge Centre (KC) consist of a set of services that provide a comprehensive set of requirements for Information Governance. It provides several services available at the Knowledge Centre website.
Open Archival Information System OAIS The Open Archival Information System (OAIS) reference model is a conceptual framework for an archival system dedicated to preserving and maintaining access to digital information over the long term.
